PSYCH program offers: 48 semester hours

Psychology Major

Residency Requirement

You must take at least 48 semester hours to receive a bachelor's degree from King College.

Prior college work:

  • You must complete at least 45 semester hours of prior college coursework.
  • This may be completed at another accredited college or university.
  • You may also complete the required coursework in the Pathway program at King College.

Note: The program is full time and is designed so a student with 76 credit hours of work completed at an accredited college will graduate in four semesters.

Program Outcomes

PSYCH program graduates will be prepared to meet the following competency outcomes:

  • Demonstrate knowledge and understanding representing appropriate breadth and depth in selected content areas of psychology.
  • Understand and apply research methods in psychology, including research design, data analysis, and interpretation.
  • Develop and engage critical thinking skills to approach problems effectively.
  • Understand apply psychological principles to personal, social or organizational issues.
  • Recognize the importance of ethical behavior in all aspects of the science and practice of psychology.
  • Show competency in the researching and writing of literature reviews using appropriate technological resources.
  • Be able to communicate appropriately in speaking and writing.
  • Demonstrate an understanding of sociocultural and international diversity with regard to psychological processes and behavior.
  • Reflect on personal experiences, find meaning in them, and use them for personal development based on psychological principles
  • Identify and develop skills an experience related to desired career goals.
