Communication Major

Residency Requirement

You must take at least 48 semester hours at King College to receive a bachelor's degree from King College.

Prior college work:

  • You must complete at least 45 semester hours of prior college coursework.
  • This may be completed at another accredited college or university.
  • You may also complete the extra required residency credits in the Pathway program at King College.

Note: The program is full-time and is designed so a student with 76 credit hours of work completed at an accredited college will graduate in four semesters.

Program Outcomes

COMM program graduates will be prepared to meet the following competency outcomes:

  • Communicate effectively in oral and written work.
  • Plan qualitatively and quantitatively and use critical thinking and problem solving skills.
  • To construct rhetorically effective communication appropriate to diverse audiences, purposes, and occasions.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of the history of oral and written communication (rhetoric) and of visual communication.
  • Apply ethical principles to decision-making in coursework and professional settings.
  • Articulate understanding of their social responsibility as communicators.
  • Act locally and think globally.
  • Use life-long learning skills.

Each student completes the program with a portfolio of work completed.
