In an accelerated learning model, interaction is foundational to synergy. Therefore, for the model of experiential learning to work, attendance must be mandatory. We recognize there is always the unexpected in the midst of adult life. Absences must be cleared in advance with your professor, who may set up a special meeting time, apart from class time, to cover learning objectives for that class. More than two absences per course may be grounds for administrative withdrawal from the program. Attendance records are essential to comply with regulations established by the Veterans’ Administration or recipients of VA benefits or federally insured student loans. If long term medical, family, or employment concerns develop, the student needs to contact the Director of Academic Services for Graduate & Professional Services immediately. The director will assist the student in addressing matters related to the program both academically and financially.
The Library reference staff, in cooperation with the facilitators in the programs, will provide instruction in basic information gathering, including learning the basics of database searching and critical thinking skills. These life-long learning skills are essential preparation to effectively function in this "information society.” All students in the program are encouraged to use the services and resources of the Library.
An undergraduate student must complete at least 48 semester hours at King College and at least 32 semester hours of the major subject must be completed at King. Credit achieved through CLEP may not be applied to the 48-hour minimum.
No student may be permitted to count toward the completion of the requirements in his/her major any grades below" C-", including those courses in the major, which are part of the general education requirements. A grade of "C" or higher is required in all nursing courses.
During the first month of the final semester, candidates for a degree must complete a form notifying the registrar of their intention to graduate. All financial obligations must be settled in full before the degree will be conferred.
All candidates for a degree from King College are required to take a comprehensive examination in their major field. All candidates for a Nursing degree from King College are required to take course-related, standardized examinations as a benchmark to verify achieving program outcomes.
The commencement exercises of the college are held semi-annually in May and December, although degrees are also conferred in August. If a student expects to graduate in August, he or she may march in the December commencement exercises.
Candidates who do not complete the work for their degree within the sixth year from the date of first registration will be required to comply with graduation requirements applicable to the class with which they are graduating. Otherwise, students may graduate under the requirements of any bulletin/catalog of the college published during the period of their enrollment.
BBA Students: Must have a laptop or notebook computer that can be used in class. All other students are required to have a computer that can access the King College Intranet. Students without computers may purchase laptop computers through King College. See the program director for details.
Once students have received a grade report, an official transcript (including those grades and all previous courses and grades) will be available and sent upon request. Transcript requests must be made in writing to The Office of Registration & Records. Official transcripts can be sent directly from the College to schools, employers, agencies, etc. Students may also request official transcripts to be mailed directly to them in a sealed envelope. Transcript requests should contain: student’s name (including maiden name), specific dates of attendance, names and addresses where the transcripts are to be sent, and the student’s signature. If specific semesters or specific course grades are to be included, that information should be noted, so that the transcript is not sent before the data is posted to the record. Transcript request information can be accessed via www.king.edu/registrar.
To withdraw from a Graduate & Professional Studies course, students must submit the “Change of Schedule” form to King College. The date the form is received by King College is the official withdrawal date from the course. There is a $15 fee for schedule changes. Students who withdraw from a course prior to the second class session will receive a 100% reimbursement of charges for the course. Tuition is non-refundable for students who fail to withdraw prior to the second class session.
To withdraw from the program, the student must notify the Student Services Coordinator and complete the Withdrawal from Cohort form. The date of withdrawal shall be the date that the student begins the College’s withdrawal process. Charges are prorated from the date of withdrawal until the end of the semester. Students will receive credit for courses completed. Withdrawal from the program will jeopardize any financial aid for the rest of that academic year (these regulations have been set by the federal and state governments). When the Registrar’s office is asked to verify full-time enrollment for a student, that office is required to use the last date in class as the last day of attendance. The student has a grace period of six months after the last day of class before repayment of loans must begin. A student receiving financial aid that anticipates dropping out should contact the Financial Aid Office regarding the implications of such action. The amount of Title IV and other financial aid, which must be returned to a program source, will be calculated and charges will be adjusted by the amount of aid earned. The calculation for return of Title IV aid is a federally mandated formula. Financial aid from other sources is based on percentage completed. The return of Title IV funds can be found in the King College Academic Catalogue. When a student drops out of a cohort group, the charge must be prorated and refunds given either to the student/agency/business or the government as determined by government regulations. For additional information on King College's Refund Policy, please see the Business Office.
The Academic Standards committee of King College reviews the records of all students at the end of each semester. The committee evaluates the records based on the following criteria: MBA Program: Graduate students will be placed on academic probation if their semester grade point average falls below 3.0. Failure to achieve a 3.0 or higher during the next semester will result in academic suspension. Students who are admitted on conditional acceptance must achieve a grade point average of 3.0 during their first semester to avoid being academically suspended. Graduate students whose cumulative grade point average falls below 3.0 will be placed on academic probation and will remain on probation until their cumulative grade point average is 3.0 or higher. Failure to achieve a semester grade point average of 3.0 or higher during this probationary period will result in academic suspension. Students who are suspended must follow the procedures outlined under Readmission to the Program. Readmission to the program is not guaranteed and will be based on the Director and Graduate Admission committee's evaluation of a student's likelihood to successfully complete the MBA program. BBA and RN-BSN Programs: Students will be placed on academic probation if their grade point average for the semester falls below that required for their program. Academic assistance is available for all students through the LIN King Center. Full time students are allowed to continue at King on probation if they achieve the minimum grade point average required or specified by the Academic Standards Committee. Students unable to fulfill the terms of their academic probation in a given semester will normally be suspended for one semester. At the end of the semester a student is suspended, he or she must follow the procedures outlined under Readmission to the Program.

Visitors are not permitted in classes except with prior approval of the classroom instructor. This policy applies to all classes taught on the King College main campus or at off-site teaching locations owned, leased, or used by the college.

Incomplete work must be completed within 90 days of the date the "I" grade is assigned, or by the end of the semester, whichever comes later. For example, if work is not satisfactorily completed by the end of Semester I, the student may not be permitted to enroll in Semester II. If the final semester's work is not completed by the end of the semester, participation in graduation may be jeopardized. Also, students will not qualify for the Dean's List if they have an "I" in the semester being considered. A grade of "I" is calculated as an "F" in both the cumulative and semester grade point averages until the "I" is completed, which may result in academic probation. Academic probation due to a grade of Incomplete will be voided when the "I" is replaced with a satisfactory grade. Students receiving a grade of "I" are expected to consult immediately with the instructor in order to complete all necessary work within the time frame permitted by King College.
When a student repeats a course, only the last grade earned will be used to compute the grade point average, provided the latest grade is not lower than the prior grade. Both grades will appear on the student's permanent record.
A student that has a dispute with course policies or grades must first consult with the instructor of the course.
Student with high scholastic achievement in the BBA and RN-BSN programs are listed on the President's and Dean's List following the semester in which the achievement was attained. These students are divided into two groups.
NOTE: King College adheres to the provisions of the federal Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act of 1974. For a copy of this policy, contact the Registrar's office.
After completing the program, the student has 90 days to complete all requirements for the degree while maintaining an active status. Extensions will be granted in unusual circumstances. With the expiration of 90 days, the student will be classified as inactive. To be reinstated to active student status, one must petition and pay a $100 fee. Active student status will last for three months. To graduate, a student must be classified as an active student (or have been last classified as an active student, if completing all other requirements for graduation more than 90 days prior to a scheduled graduation date).
